Standard PMICs

Cypress leverages its state-of-the-art semiconductor design, production, system, and application technology to develop high-performance power management ICs (PMICs) with advanced and ease-of-use functions.These PMICs can be used for a wide range of digital appliances, as well as industrial equipment such as office automation, factory automation, networking devices, stationary game machine, notebook PCs, and mobile terminals.

 

DC/DC converter (Internal FET switching regulator)

Cypress DC/DC converters supply the main power line by using just the chip.The small chip inductor is applicable because Cypress DC/DC converters can operate with high switching frequency.These PMICs come with an output setting resistor, phase compensation circuit, and switching FETs to reduce the number of external components and its mount area.Additionally, they have the CTL input pin, which can control ON/OFF, Power Good signal output pin, and I2C communication interface.These onboard features make it easy to design the power supply sequence.What’s more, you can tune the output voltage very precisely using the I2C communication.

DC/DC controller (External FET switching regulator)

Cypress DC/DC controllers are suitable for designing 5V and 3.3V power lines from 12V or 24V power line and SoC core power supply.They support a wide input voltage range up to 28V and provide ultra-quick load transient response thanks to the bottom detection comparator architecture.Low system standby current can be also achieved by PFM operation and enhanced low power mode.
