Cypress Supports Lenovo Launch With Component Solutions

WirelessUSB(TM) and Other Cypress ICs Included in Innovative 2.4 GHz Wireless PC Peripherals

SAN JOSE, Calif., 2005 年 5 月 25 日 - Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE: CY) today announced that its WirelessUSB(TM) radio system-on-a-chip will now be shipped in keyboards and mice manufactured by Lenovo, the world's third largest PC company after it successfully completed the acquisition of IBM's Personal Computing Division.  The devices have been shipping in volume to IBM since December 2004 when it introduced the Enhanced Performance Wireless Keyboard and Mouse, which are now part of Lenovo's product portfolio.

Cypress's WirelessUSB is a natural technology fit for this Lenovo product.  Innovative and easy-to-use, WirelessUSB is a high-performance, reliable wireless solution. It operates in the 2.4-GHz global ISM band, so customers can use it worldwide, regardless of regional frequency requirements, an important attribute for a global supplier such as Lenovo In addition to WirelessUSB, the new keyboards and mice also include wired USB controllers and Programmable System-on-Chip(TM) (PSoC(TM)) solutions from Cypress.

"We are pleased to support Lenovo as it transitions to a global leader in the PC market," said Ralph Schmitt, Cypress's executive vice president of sales and marketing. "As a long-term supplier of clock solutions, USB controllers, and other products to the former IBM Personal Computing Division, we look forward to a mutually beneficial relationship with Lenovo as it expands its brand globally."

About WirelessUSB
WirelessUSB, offered by both Cypress and its second-source partner, Atmel Corp. (NASDAQ: ATML), delivers the best combination of performance and cost versus competing wireless technologies. Featuring a highly integrated radio transceiver plus digital baseband on a single chip, WirelessUSB enables designers to significantly decrease development time, component count and system cost while improving operating range, power-consumption and latency. The DSSS (Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum)-based technology is robust to interference and features a range of up to 50 meters and beyond. The devices deliver very low standby power consumption, with a standby current of approximately 0.25-microamp, which translates into months of battery life for a typical keyboard, mouse or gamepad.  In addition, WirelessUSB devices feature a 62.5 kbps data transmission rate at greater than 10 meters with an average latency of below four milliseconds.

Cypress solutions are at the heart of any system that is built to perform: consumer, computation, data communications, automotive, industrial, and solar power. Leveraging a strong commitment to customer service and performance-based process and manufacturing expertise, Cypress's product portfolio includes a broad selection of wired and wireless USB devices, CMOS image sensors, timing solutions, network search engines, specialty memories, high-bandwidth synchronous and micropower memory products, optical solutions, and reconfigurable mixed-signal arrays. Cypress stock is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol CY. More information about the company is available online at
